The Jean Vitrano Approach to Living a Life of Presence, Ease & Awareness
Through Meditation & Mindfulness Practices
JEAN VITRANO draws on her training in mindfulness practices, meditation and body therapies to assist her clients in finding ease and health in body and mind. She tends to the whole person with a compassionate, listening presence. Through her mindfulness based work, Jean facilitates clients in pausing, sensing themselves in their bodies, and helping them observe their thought and feeling patterns. Clients can get to know what is alive in themselves and what their habit patterns are. From there, by developing the capacity to stay and be present, clients can tend to what is needed with compassion and their inner wisdom. Insightful actions and ways of being emerge from this place of listening, awareness and attention.
Jean has extensive experience working with the body and mind through years of training in meditation and mindfulness practices, therapeutic massage, movement awareness, and contemporary dance. She holds a BA from NYU and had a career as a professional contemporary dancer. In 2002, she graduated from The Swedish Institute and became a Licensed Massage Therapist, launching her private practice in NYC. Jean graduated from the Feldenkrais Method Training Program in 2011. She has studied with Buddhist Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh and has been influenced by the teachings of Tara Brach and Sharon Salzberg and Pema Chodron. Jean facilitates weekly meditation and mindfulness groups and offers online courses.
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response.
In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
