It seems more and more people in my groups talk about how much their smartphones get in the way of living the way they want to. They take us out of the present moment, away from real connection, and they increase rather than decrease anxious feelings.
Following the 30-day program laid out by Catherine Price in her updated version of How to Break Up with Your Phone, I will facilitate a 5-week book group on Zoom. If you are serious about wanting to change your phone habits and the power it has over you, join us, and let's do it together. Having the support of others will help. Let's motivate and inspire each other and laugh along the way.
How will the group work?
-
First, you will need to purchase the book or borrow it from your library. Be sure to get the 2025 updated version. I suggest a hard copy for obvious reasons.
-
Read the first 102 pages before we start...I know that sounds like a lot, but the pages are short, and it's an easy read. I was tempted to skip those pages and go directly to the program, but in reading them, I found them to be motivating and worth the time spent. If you have your own book, mark up the lines that speak to you.
-
On our first night, practicing mindful listening and speaking, we will share what came to the question: What do you want to pay attention to? (Page 99). And the prompts she asks on day 1. Bring your notes. You may want to keep a separate journal for this work (or if you have an extra A Mindful Life journal, use it or stop by the studio and pick a free one up).
-
We will spend a few minutes in a short meditation to get grounded. From there, I will facilitate some questions to share about what was covered in the book and your responses to the questions the author asks. We can look deeply into the ways we get caught, the feelings that come up, and keep close to our values and motivation.
If you miss a group, I will be recording the Zoom sessions and will share the link. I know people travel in the summer...it's okay if you miss the group, as long as you stay committed to the daily program. Each daily lesson takes about 15-20 minutes a day. To work with the content on that day, you will want to take that time in the morning, if you can, or work it in as needed. You don't have to be rigid, but committed!
If you’re ready to put it down. I hope you will join me. Let's make it a movement in the community.

After 10 years of facilitating A Mindful Life, I've watched the groups grow deeper and deeper in content. That depth is a gift, but it can also make it hard to know if this practice is right for you before committing to an 8-week group. So, I'm offering a one-off Intro to A Mindful Life workshop to give you a low-commitment way to try.
This is for anyone curious about joining A Mindful Life, whether on Zoom or at the studio, and wanting to understand the basics of what we do together. It's also a complete standalone experience for anyone wanting some mindful connection with yourself and others — no pressure, just presence required.
What we'll do:
-
Read the group intentions
-
Practice meditation
-
Basic instruction on mindful communication
-
Gratitude exercise (in pairs) and why we practice it
-
A sample guided contemplative practice
-
Group sharing

Whether you're considering joining A Mindful Life or just want some meaningful time with yourself and others, this session will give you a real taste of what we do and hopefully leave you feeling full.
This workshop is a mutual exploration and a chance for you to feel out whether A Mindful Life is a good fit, and for me to do the same. If I sense it isn't the right fit for the ongoing group, I'll let you know with care, and we can talk about what might serve you better.
Space is limited, and we need at least 4 participants to run, so please don't wait to register. Reach out with any questions.
This workshop just ended. Another one will come soon!
Let me know you are interested, and when enough people want to gather, I will plan another! Email me here.

Are you preparing for an empty nest? After so many years of parenting, this is a particular moment in time that can bring a wide range of feelings. You might feel anxious, excited, sad, happy, ungrounded, or sense it as an opening into the unknown.
Whatever is arising for you, I invite you to join me for a mindfulness workshop where you can take time and space to be with your experience and be proactive in how you want to meet this new period of life as it begins to unfold.
We will meditate to help get grounded, and I will offer a series of reflective questions designed to open inner dialogue and invite your own wisdom to guide how you want to approach and be in this next chapter. In mindful company, we can embrace what is here with kindness.
No meditation experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to lean into your own wisdom. Whether you are preparing to become an empty nester or have recently entered this phase within the past year and feel a desire to connect around it, I welcome you to take this time for yourself.
If this moment in your life is calling for your attention, I invite you to save your space and register. Explore this transition with mindfulness and support.
Space is limited to 16.

When your self-critic is loud, do you know how to respond? When you feel anxious, can you befriend the fear behind it?
We are often our biggest critics. Learning to respond to our self-critic with kindness is something we can strengthen. Join me and explore the ways you can be a friend to yourself. In this workshop, we will build the tools we can use to take care of ourselves with mindfulness and loving-kindness. Through awareness and compassion, we prevent ourselves from being dominated by voices that don’t serve us, the ones that get in the way of us living the way we aspire to live. We can free ourselves from self-limiting perceptions and tap into more joy and connection.
