The Jean Vitrano Approach to Meditation, Massage Therapy, and Stress Management
JEAN VITRANO draws on her training in mindfulness practices and meditation and massage therapy to assist her clients in finding ease and health in body and mind. Whether through mindfulness work and/or therapeutic massage, she tends to the whole person with a compassionate presence and an experienced touch. Jean facilitates clients in sensing themselves in their bodies (their places of holding and tension) and observing their thought and feeling patterns so they know what they do and what is alive in them. From there, by pausing, being present with and tending to what is needed, beneficial, lasting change can happen.
Jean has extensive experience working with the body and mind through years of training in meditation and mindfulness practices, therapeutic massage, movement awareness, and contemporary dance. She holds a BA from NYU and had a career as a professional contemporary dancer. In 2002, she graduated from The Swedish Institute and became a Licensed Massage Therapist, launching her private practice in NYC. Jean graduated from the Feldenkrais Method Training Program in 2011. She has studied with Buddhist Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh and has been influenced by the teachings of Tara Brach and Sharon Salzberg and Pema Chodron. Jean facilitates weekly meditation and mindfulness groups and offers online courses.
