STRENGTHENING SELF-KINDNESS - a mindfulness workshop nurturing compassion on Zoom

f2184ce0-f276-4f55-8edc-6c77f15fd5d5.png

We are often our biggest critics. Learning to respond to our self-critic with kindness is something we can strengthen. Join me for a workshop on building the tools we can use to take care of ourselves with mindfulness and loving-kindness. Through awareness and compassion we prevent ourselves from being dominated by voices that don’t serve us, the ones that get in the way of us living the way we aspire to live. We can free ourselves from self-limiting perceptions and tap into more joy and connection. Please bring a childhood picture (for your use only) and a journal if you prefer one (paper provided).

Saturday, November 7, 2020

9:00-11:00 am (EST)

• $40.00

Every year spring invites us to come back out into the world after a long winter. Entering this particular spring feels even more momentous. We are not only welcoming in the light and longer days, the return of color, but we are moving out of the constraints we have had during the pandemic as the vaccine makes its way around. So much more is opening than just the crocus and daffodils. Let's take a pause together and see how we want to enter it. We can enjoy seeing what possibilities are there and what fears are there. Through meditation and guided reflective exercises, we will listen to  ourselves and each other and be supported in taking the next steps with the season and with the pandemic. (This workshop is also a good way to experience what we do in A Mindful Life!).

Please note: if you are in A Mindful Life you will get this experience in your group. This is for individuals not currently in A Mindful Life.

I know most of us don't know what this fall will bring. For that reason, I am bringing back a workshop I haven't done in a few years to help us approach whatever comes with as much ease, grounding, compassion, and presence as possible. We need to keep our mind and heart space healthy so that we can meet these coming months maintaining some peace of mind, humor, strength of spirit, and gratefulness. Feel supported by a mindful community as we welcome this new season.

Join me for this Zoom workshop that will include mindful exercises such as:

  • mindfulness meditation

  • awareness exercises that can help us gain insight about ourselves and our needs this fall

  • strengthening our ability to tend to what may be before us with compassion and self-kindness

  • tapping into curiosity about ourselves and our aspirations in the midst of uncertainty

  • remembering gratefulness within it all

BEGINNING MINDFULNESS MEDITATION SERIES ON ZOOM

buddha-2109894_640.jpg

Do you often think that meditation would be helpful to do, but don't really know how to start a practice? Do you have an idea that you're just not "good" at meditation because your mind is too busy? Do you want to learn tools to find greater space between your thoughts? Do you want to learn to be less reactive, more present, and steady in the face of what comes?

Join me for a three week beginning mindfulness meditation series. Each session will include instruction, practices, and personalized Q&A time. You will have a chance to learn in a warm, supportive setting, and get the basics so that you can continue to practice on your own, join a group, or use a meditation app more successfully.

Wednesdays, July 22 & 29, & August 5, 2020

9:30 - 10:15 am on Zoom

• $45 for the series.

• Must register by 7/20.

• No refunds/make-ups for missed classes.

SUNDAY NIGHT MINDFULNESS MEDITATION GROUP

meditation-1794292_640.jpg

Every Sunday night 7:30 – 8:45 pm

• Drop-in group, no registration required $10 suggested donation

• St. George's Church, Parish Hall, 550 Ridgewood Rd., Maplewood, NJ 07040

(entrance is at the back of the church, by the parking lot)

• We will not meet on the following days in 2020: 2/16, 5/24, 6/28, 7/5, 8/9, 8/16.

Whether you are new to meditation or already have a practice, we welcome you to join us. The evenings will have guided, walking, and silent meditation periods. Some instruction will be given. Together we practice the tools of mindfulness that bring us into the present moment, develop greater compassion, strengthen our concentration, and allow our body and mind to rest right here, right now. By stopping, focusing on our breathing, and observing our thoughts and feelings we gain clarity, spaciousness and the ability to stay present to whatever arises without reacting habitually. By practicing with the support of community, our commitment to living mindfully is strengthened. There is also time to share (optional) about our practice and deepen our skills of mindful listening and mindful speech.

Please arrive early and avoid wearing fragrances for the comfort of the group. Chairs and cushions available.

Join Jean Vitrano for an experiential workshop to learn mindfulness tools to manage our reactions to stress and to strengthen the pathways to happiness. We all encounter stress in small and large ways on a daily basis. Whether it is an underlying sense of anxiousness, feeling overwhelmed by life, or dealing with anger or despair, we can prevent these difficult states from getting lodged in our bodies and minds and learn how to cultivate a more readily available sense of contentment and joy. Through mindfulness meditation, learning how to stay with ourselves in difficult or unclear moments, and finding the positive in mind/body practices, we can make profound shifts in how we are in the world. We can stop our habitual, unhelpful patterns with compassion and kindness and find the clarity and spaciousness to feel more ease and greater aliveness.
